CHICAGO (CP) - After becoming just the second Chicago Blackhawks head coach to win his first three games, Denis Savard was rewarded with a one-year contract extension on Tuesday.
Savard took over from the fired Trent Yawney on Nov. 27 and the team won three straight games.
The 36th coach in team history is now under contract through 2007-08.
Sid Abel, in 1952, is the only other man to win his first three games as the Blackhawks coach.
